Feminism Now

Tonight we are hosting a talk on the history of Feminism. I am thinking about what that means. Many of us who have lived through most of the “waves” are trying to figure out what we should be doing, how we should feel, what we still want.

We know that things have changed but we also know that things have stayed the same. There are still so many ways in which women are disenfranchised in our society. And that is not even addressing the horrors in other parts of the world. For every two steps forward there is a step back.

Younger women are rejecting the “feminism ” label. Some are rejecting gender roles period. There is still so much frustration. Many of us want to embrace our female natures while we work towards fairness and equality.

I look forward to our meeting tonight. I am hoping to begin to find some answers.
